Death Trip

Ron Asheton died today.

Lead guitarist of the Stooges... One of the true founding bands of punk... Probably my favorite band of all time.

I feel really weird.

The drummer from No Place to Pissed also died today. All of these people and bands I know knew him.

I don't know what to say. Today's a weird day.

In memory of Ron Asheton, I will post my favorite song by the Stooges:

Great choice--amazing song and nowhere near as heard as it should be. Further proof that even the lesser-known Stooges songs all completely slay.

I feel terrible for Iggy and Scott, and I'm sorry that no one else is going to get to experience all of them onstage together anymore. Huge, huge loss.

Yeah, it really is kind of ridiculous how upset this made me, but it really does bother me.

Yeah, definitely Ben. It really is a loss for all of those people who never got to see them, especially since they had come back together and the Weirdness is actually a good album (at least, I like it).

Kimberly, I'm glad that you like the Stooges. Everyone should enjoy the Stooges and especially Death Trip. I feel like not enough people listen to it, and it's one of my favorites. = )

I can't remember the last time I felt really affected by the death of a public figure... apart from Princess Diana... yeah that sounds really sad but it was an odd time. The entire country ground to a halt, shopping malls empty, NOTHING in the papers except Diana cover to cover, nonstop coverage on tv it was mad no wonder everybody went slightly crazy
